Event Overview

A piece of art, or an idea just germinating in an artist's head, can benefit from another set of eyes, another unique perspective. There are possibilities hiding in our ideas that we simply cannot see by ourselves. Once we receive someone's helpful feedback, our ideas grow like flowers in sunlight.

If you are looking to grow your ideas, sign up for Critique Club. Maybe you're feeling stuck, or maybe you just want to take your ideas to the next level. Let your fellow artists be that other set of eyes. Let this feedback motivate you to take action, and watch your projects grow and blossom.
We will meet every Friday for three weeks, present our ongoing art projects, and give one another valuable feedback.

Class #1: Friday, August 29 / 6:00pm – 7:00pm
Class #2: Friday, September 5 / 6:00pm – 7:00pm
Class #3: Friday, September 12 / 6:00pm – 7:00pm

Critique Club is a community of support and constructive criticism. You will get honest opinions about your work as well as insights and suggestions that never would have occurred to you in isolation. Bring in whatever you're working on, even if it's just a concept. Let your community of artists help you get to the next level!

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST

Dean Johnson

Top rated icon TOP RATED

Dean Johnson specializes in a variety of mediums: acrylic paint, pen and ink, and multiple printmaking techniques. He studied Fine Art at Columbia College Chicago, where he earned his Bachelor Degree. During his college experience, Dean participated in innumerable group critiques. He saw the value in receiving other artists' feedback, as it helped him improve his concepts. Since graduating, He has built his art studio into a business.

Dean's commissions include numerous portrait paintings, as well as postcard designs for theater companies TUTA and Darknight Theatrical Productions; flyer designs for rock band Arch Visceral Parlor and DJ Elle Madelyn; and illustrations for author John Wawrzaszek. Each time he collaborates with a client, the client's feedback guides and shapes the art-making process, improving on Dean's initial concepts. He enjoys fostering a similar atmosphere of open dialogue during the classes he leads.
