Event Overview

This class, better than couples therapy and friendship bracelets combined, is the best reason we’ve come up with in a long time to get together with someone you care about! Bring your date or partner with you to this collaborative art-making experience, where participants will work together to create a reflective piece of art.

Learn about each other through creative brainstorming activities, then create a unique piece of art that reflects the nature of your relationship. Each workshop in the series will delve into different mediums and you’ll learn basic methods of assemblage, color theory, drawing and painting skills.

Whether you’re already an artist, or haven’t the slightest clue how to put ink to paper, it’s okay– this is an open, pressure free environment focused a little bit on art, and a lot on strengthening the bonds between you and your day’s co-pilot!

This event is happening two different times with two different sets of creative activities. So... come to one or both!

All materials and refreshments are included in the price.

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST

As a Teaching Artist, I have worked in urban and suburban schools and organizations for 15 years. Every day, I get to watch people light up with new discoveries about themselves and the world through art-making. It’s the best job in the world!

I have been immersed in the magic of visual art-making since someone first put a crayon in my hand. This eventually led me to obtaining a BFA with a concentration in sculpture from Xavier University and at that time I also began to teach young people art through summer camps and volunteer opportunities. Inspired by how art allows me the space to dive into my inner world and find the healing needed along life’s Journey, I went to graduate school for Cultural Management at City University London in the hopes of finding a way to share the power of art with others. There I discovered organizations using arts for social change and my true calling showed itself – using art to change the world!

As an Artist, there is a constant of searching for the truths nature is always revealing, a craving for bright, beautiful color and an exploration of the stories that art can tell about us as individuals and as a part of something much bigger. Currently, I am in love with the process of writing and illustrating magical stories for both children and adults. I have just published my first children’s book called Jitterbugs! My work has been exhibited in galleries, cafes, kids’ stores and a national traveling exhibit.
