Event Overview

Learning to grow your own vegetables is a wonderful experience. You may think it is impossible in a big city like Chicago, but growing fresh, delicious vegetables like tomatoes and herbs is easy, even in the city! Come to this gardening class for beginners to learn the basics of vegetable gardening from Nature Museum Horticulturist, Seth Harper. You will leave with a bounty of knowledge about how to start and take care of your very own garden. During the class you will even start a tray of seedlings to take home!

Seth Harper received his horticulture education at West Virginia University. He spent five years tending the indoor tropical rainforest at the National Aquarium in Baltimore before coming to Chicago. He currently works at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, growing everything from garden vegetables to exotic greenhouse plants.
