The flames! The hot molten glass! The excitement! Who hasn't wanted wanted to try glassblowing? This is your chance!
This glass will be a true basic glassblowing class. We will start from the very beginning learning to gather hot glass out of the furnace, navigate safely and effectively around the glass studio while carrying hot glass and how to use basic tools to shape and manipulate hot glass. The class will be more about the process than about the finished product, though you will end up making several small pieces which will be available for pick up after they've undergone a slow cooling process.
The focus of this class is to learn basic glassblowing skills which can be built upon in later classes.
All ages welcome

Kit Paulson has been blowing glass for approximately 10 years, having received her BFA from Alfred University. She has taught glassblowing at studios around the Chicagoland area, including: Making Glass, Chaos Glass, and (currently) Chicago Hot Glass. Kit is a working craftsperson and her own glass creations can be found at art fairs around Chicago and on Etsy.
This was a great beginning glass class. As other reviews have said, Kit is very patient and she's also very thorough. The "gazing ball" we made is very cool. I can't wait to take more of her classes.

Beginning Glassblowing was a great class and Kit is an excellent teacher. My boyfriend and I were both a little shy of the furnaces and hot glass, but Kit is very relaxed, knowledgeable, and patient, and that really helped us to have fun and learn some skills. Recommended!

I had no idea what to expect going into Kit's glass blowing for beginners class, but I left with an understanding of the process of glass blowing, techniques and some real hands on experiences. Kit was patient and helpful and made sure everyone was comfortable working around the heat of the furnaces and the hot glass. I'm glad I made the decision to sign up for this class!

This class was great. Kit is a wonderful teacher, really personable and fun. She was very patient and encouraging. Can't wait to take more classes with her. She kept asking if we had questions, which was nice that we didn't feel like we were bothering her to inquire about everything. You can tell she really enjoys her art and likes to teach. Had a fantastic time.

I loved the class, it was a great introduction to the full process from gathering at the furnace to forming a basic shape.
