Event Overview

Ever looked at an implosion marble or pendant and really wanted to make your own? If so, this is the class for you. Topics covered will include building the initial gather and disk, boro color, stringers, shaping and loops. Implosion technique taught in class can be applied to marbles, and sculpture work as well. The class will include safety information, about 2 hours of instruction, and a short break. Work made during class will be kiln annealed overnight for robustness and available the next day.

Students are always welcome to come back to the studio to work independently with the skills learned in class, or other skills they have learned.

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST

John Landin was originally introduced to lampwork while doing research for his chemistry degree. He loves the experimentation in both science, and art glass. His passion started in 2005 making soft glass beads, and has since grown to a love of marbles, pendants, and sculpture in boro. He is always thinking about glass, and working to take his skills and knowledge to the next level. In 2013, he founded a glass studio in Lincoln Square with his partner, Elektra Musich. Most nights and weekends you can find him there at the torch working on his newest ideas.
