Event Overview

Hello soon-to-be Word Ninjas!

This class is focused on setting, and why it is so important. We will investigate what the different points-of-view are and how writers can identify them and/or use them.

How do we capture details and use them in fiction, non-fiction, or persuasive writing? Practice capturing details in class through a short exercise, then embark on field trip to the coffee shop next door for a ten minute observation period.

All students should be prepared to use their time during the field trip to observe the interactions and discussions of the people around them. Small notepad and pen or pencil is required. Post-field trip discussion will include what observations the students made and how those details could be used in a creative piece. What a book with no details look like? What details are important, and which make your writing confusing? I will be sharing examples from my own research and observation as well.
