Learn letterpress printing and send your love with a special, hand printed Valentine!
Let our collection of vintage type and ornaments inspire your design, then letterpress print your card on our historic press with movable type. You will print 10 cards on beautiful, thick cotton paper and take them home that day!
Perfect for graphic designers, crafters & anyone who loves the look of letterpress.
Each student will learn how to compose a letterpress form, set movable type & print by hand on a Chandler & Price press from the 1920's!
What to Bring
Apron, smock, or clothes you don't mind getting inky. Think of a short phrase you'd like to print for Valentine's Day!

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST
Elizabeth Isakson-Dado is an artist working in installation, hand papermaking, letterpress printing and new media. She holds a BFA in Printmaking from Wayne State University (2004), and a MFA in Interdisciplinary Book & Paper Art from Columbia College Chicago (2013). Her paintings and artist's books have been shown at Detroit Contemporary, Cranbrook Academy of Art and the Center for Book & Paper Arts.
Liz was named Top 20 in their 20's by Crain's Detroit Business, Lyceum Visiting Artist at University of Michigan Press, Featured Emerging Artist at Wyandotte Art Fair and has received an Access Arts Grant for Public Art in Detroit. She has also taught as Adjunct Instructor for the undergraduate Intro to Letterpress class at Columbia College Chicago.
