MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST

Lindsey Meyers is a self-taught photographer and mixed-media artist, originally from the Northeast suburbs of Chicago. She has been living and working in Logan Square for over ten years and has taught both preschool and middle school.

Her artistic pursuits brought her to The Chicago Academy for the Arts and the Steppenwolf Theater, as well as the Joel Hall Dance Center. She graduated with an Honors degree in Psychology from the University of Southern California and is the proud mother of two beautiful daughters, from whom she derives inspiration by simply being in their presence.

“Photography unexpectedly put all of the pieces of my life together in a very rapid and powerful way,” says Meyers. She quickly realized how “one photo of one moment can move one person,” so she decided to share these images- many of which she describes as “happy accidents”.

Meyers’ mixed media pieces are “the result of a random trip to the art supply store and years and years of writing and scribbling musings on whatever available surface I could find.” Her mixed media work has been evolving as of late through the use of new materials; found objects such as acrylic boxes, slip dresses and frames made of wood and nails.

Lindsey was chosen to participate in the inaugural SEED Chicago Kickstarter Project with the Mayor's office, was highlighted as a featured business owner for SCORE Chicago and Accion Chicago, and is a member of Chicago Ideas Week CIW Co-Op. She is also the co-creator of Agassiz Elementary School's Parent Art Co-Op.

Lindsey has displayed her work at and spoken at prestigious institutions, such as the Chicago Academy for the Arts. She was honored to represent their Class of 1994 at the Taste for the Arts Gala at the Harris Theater in May of 2014, and lectured as their first Alumni Guest Speaker in October of 2014.

Meyers recently participated in, sponsored and facilitated a 200 ft mural by and with artist, Rachel Slotnik, at the Logan Square Blue Line stop on behalf of Beauty & Brawn, and is collaborating with The Adler Planetarium in hopes of funding the first ever "Moon Project" - which aims to connect young artists both city and nationwide.
