The fun thing about origami is that you can do it anywhere! As long as you have a piece of paper, you can make little paper critters. If you've always wanted to learn to make origami animals, give us one hour. We’ll teach you how to make six awesome origami from the animal kingdom! The categories we will cover include land animals and flying creatures.
Artist and Origami enthusiast Dean Johnson shows you step-by-step how to make these fun, zoological sculptures. He then helps you make all six origami for yourself. Plus, you get printed instructions to take home with you so you can continue to practice this art! No experience is necessary, and you needn’t bring anything. All materials are provided, and all ages are welcome!

Dean Johnson utilizes a variety of mediums: acrylic paint, pen and ink, linocut and paper collage. He studied Fine Art at Columbia College Chicago, where he earned his Bachelor Degree. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Chicago Publishers Resource Center (ChiPRC) and is its Arts Coordinator. He is a co-founder of Northside Independent Artists (NIA), which produces and curates art shows. Dean’s commissions include numerous portrait paintings, as well as postcard designs for theater companies TUTA and Darknight Theatrical Productions; flyer designs for rock band Arch Visceral Parlor and DJ Elle Madelyn; and illustrations for author John Wawrzaszek.
