There's no better way to learn to paint than from master pieces. By doing copies of paintings through the ages, you develop both technique and understanding of art history, while creating your own take on the famous pieces.
Each class, we'll start with a short discussion of the artist we are learning from (Picasso, Gauguin, Matisse), the particular techniques unique to their style, before starting on your painting. You'll have photo references of various paintings by the artist to create your own piece, or to create a copy of an existing master piece.
Look forward to creating beautiful replicas of water lilies by Monet, or slender figures in blue such as those by Picasso. The fall classes will focus on the Impressionists. Stop in on your own schedule to learn something new each class, or continue to work on copies from previous classes while learning something new. Perfect weekend activity to relax and learn with friends or your significant other. BYOB welcome. Age open to 21 and up only.
