Event Overview
The Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) is a Mexican festival that begins on October 31st and ends November 2nd. It is believed that the gates of heaven open and the dearly departed come down and enjoy the festivities with family and friends. Protection and prosperity from the souls are sure to follow from the showing of remembrance. Brightly painted skulls (calaveras) are one of the most popular decorations used to welcome the spirits. Flowers are usually painted on them for the spectrum of colors. In this workshop we will explore our memories and make calaveras out of clay.
