Simple Screenprints 101: Mod Podge Method
TOP RATED
Arts & DIY
Screenprinting has been used for everything from Pop Art pieces hanging in galleries to T-shirts people are wearing on the street. But the common practice of using photography chemicals on a screen is messy and complicated.
The Mod Podge method is a simple and non-toxic alternative. Artist Dean Johnson demonstrates the technique, then guides students step-by-step as they make their own screenprints. Everything you need is provided. Each student will transfer an image to a screen and make multiple prints.
You will understand how to transfer an image to a screen using mod podge, how to run ink through the screen, and how to maintain the screen for future use. Come in with no prior experience, and walk out with the knowledge and experience to make prints at home!

Dean Johnson studied Fine Arts at Columbia College Chicago, where he earned his Bachelor Degree. While drawing and painting were his main areas of study, he has remained hungry for new methods of expression. With that motivation, he has taught himself a variety of printmaking methods.
Dean has completed numerous portrait commissions, as well as commercial graphic design. His projects include postcard designs for theater companies TUTA and Darknight Theatrical Productions; flyers for rock band Arch Visceral Parlor and DJ Elle Madelyn; and illustrations for author John Wawrzaszek.
