Event Overview

In this workshop, you will learn the basic emotional intelligence skills that are the most helpful when dealing with conflict or stressful situations. By covering and practicing how to best respond in stressful situations, you will learn your own stress response style, how and when to be assertive, and learn a technique to help you keep your emotional control when someone pushes your buttons.

In this basics workshop, participants will learn:

* how gender plays a role in how your assertiveness is perceived or rewarded

* the difference between passive, assertive, and aggressive

* how to identify your emotional triggers

* how to formulate the most appropriate response when emotionally triggered

* how to consciously choose when to be passive, assertive, or aggressive

* how to use specific EI techniques to create better responses when pushed or highly stressed

We will cover the basics of how to start down the new road of responding more effectively and you will be directed toward further resources to continue the work you started in the class.
