Event Overview
The Essential Halloween Cape
A cape is a handy accessory for costumes ranging from vampires to superheroes. We will also make hoods or collars depending on your character and you will employ methods and learn techniques used in theater costume shops.
Workshop Schedule: This class meets once on Saturday
Prerequisite: This is a beginner's class - some hand and machine sewing experience will be helpful
Minimum Suggested Age: 18 years old
Urban Threads Studio will Provide: Expert instructions, sewing machines, cutting tables, basic notions, basic tools, muslin for mock-ups, interfacing.
Participants Must Bring: Four yards of fabric suitable for desired costume and height and waist circumference of the person wearing the costume.
Name of Instructor: Michelle Santoro
Instructor Biography: Michelle Santoro is Urban Threads Studio's Director of Development and a former boutique owner and fashion design faculty at Dominican University. Michelle has also worked on costume design and construction at Chicago theatres such as Goodman, Chicago Shakespeare, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, DePaul University, and was instrumental in establishing the Fashion and Textile Museum in London together with British designer Zandra Rhodes.
Directions to Studio: The Bridgeport Art Center is located at 3200 West 35th Street in Chicago and our studio can be a bit tricky to get to. There is ample parking on the north side of the building by 34th Street and Racine. The studio itself is located on the 5th
