Event Overview

In this class you will learn how to use a water-based gutta resist and silk paint to create a luminous silk suncatcher. These 9.5 inch hoops look like stained glass when they hang in a sunny window and make a great addition to your home decor, or a unique gift.

I will have lots of designs for you to choose from to trace onto your hoop, or you can bring your own ideas and create your own design. Painting silk is reaxing and rewarding, whether you are a talented artist or an enthusiastic beginner.

Finished hoops are ready to take home and hang.

You are welcome to BYOB.

We will meet on the third floor of a 100 year-old, lovingly decorated, three-flat in Ukrainian Village.

I ran the Ukrainian Village Children's Center, a learning center for children, for 12 years. I have been a community blogger for Mother Earth News on the topics of soapmaking and herbal crafts. I co-wrote the crafting blog "smallworldland" for many years which features miniature crafts, fabric and paper crafting and other tiny projects. I have two children. Recently I have branched out into the silk painting and making fairy houses. I love to make crafts and to meet new people.
