Event Overview
Working in wine, I see many faces contort and cringe when the word "Riesling" is even mentioned.
The most common responses go something like this...
"That's sweet!"
"I don't like sweet!"
"Isn't Riesling always sweet?"
I'll admit - I, like many people, used to think Riesling came in only one shade: sweet. And let's be honest - we've probably all had our share of cheap, headache-inducing wine, sweet or dry.
The truth is Riesling is considered by many winemakers, critics, and aficionados to be the most elegant grape variety in the world! No joke. The interplay between residual sugar (sweetness) and acidity, when done well, makes for a tongue-quenching, satisfying experience. Come and taste for yourself.
During this two hour, not-at-all-stuffy, class, we will:
- Learn the basics of how to methodically taste wine (don't worry...it's about fun, not perfection!)
- Explore the many faces of Riesling - dry, off-dry, and yes, even a sweet one.
- Taste 5 different Rieslings from around the world.
- Snack on some delicious cheese plates (message me -- I will accommodate for food allergies/vegetarians/vegans)
Please come with an open mind and an adventurous palate. You'll leave with a worksheet that will help you to buy your very own Riesling at any grocery store or wine shop.
*The entrance is a blue door -- the space is above Big Jones restaurant in Andersonville.

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST
Hello! Josh, here. Over the last two years, I've lovingly cultivated my knowledge of wine and discovered how much I love gathering with others to learn about all things wine. My philosophy is that wine is meant to be enjoyed in a laid-back, pretension-free way. So, no matter your level or perceived level of expertise, all are welcome and encouraged to come with an open mind and heart. Cheers!
