Are you obsessed with Downton Abbey? Do you, in true Oscar Wilde fashion, have heated discussions with friends whether it is more fashionable to serve bread and butter or cake with tea? Do you wonder whether it is one lump or two?!
If the tradition of taking English afternoon tea mystifies and excites you, I invite you to experience a true British tea service.
In this class we will:
Learn to make traditional English sandwiches.
Learn to make traditional scones.
Learn to make a traditional English cake, Chocolate Treacle Cake!
Learn how to make (and drink) a proper cup of tea.
Eat and drink our delicious afternoon tea with homemade clotted cream and homemade jam, in a beautiful loft setting! I will be fielding any questions you have about English tea, teaching some basic etiquette, and there will be fresh, homemade clotted cream and homemade jam for sale!
What to Bring
BYOB if you'd like, although proper Afternoon Tea does not traditionally include alcohol! Please also feel free to dress in formal attire! You can make this as formal as you like. I will for sure be dressed in some finery!

Aprons will be provided during the class to protect your clothes during the baking/food prep.

Devin is a dual citizen of the U.K. and U.S.A. and has spent lots of time studying, working, and visiting England. She is passionate about making British food that defies the "bland" and "boring" stereotypes, and with the help of her English family, some traditional recipes, and an enthusiasm for local, sustainable food, she does just that! Working with fresh cream, she also makes some darn good clotted cream!

Devin was fantastic! She's knowledgable, energetic, and resourceful. Our class flew by! We learned a great deal about the history and culture of tea in Britain and she shared great personal anecdotes that enriched our experience. Fun class to take with your friends!

The Afternoon Tea Party was a lot of fun. It was a small, hand-on class where I learned a lot about British afternoon tea, and we got to help make everything. Devin is very passionate about good food and tea, and she's a great teacher! The energy was high and fun throughout the class. The tea was fantastic!!! This was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
