Event Overview

Build an attractive garden home out of wood for native bees and other valuable pollinating insects. We will paint our homes to make them pretty and decorate some of the surfaces with stencils. I have a large selection of stencils you can choose to use. The wood will be cut ahead of time. The skills you will use in the class are: sanding, nailing, painting and stenciling. You will be instructed on what kinds of materials to fill the house with.

All materials except the bamboo segments shown in the picture will be included. The bamboo shown in the picture is one option you can use to fill the house but there are others. I will bring samples of other materials you can use - some recycled! To get an idea of some of the possibilities, here is an article I've written about pollinator houses - http://schnarrsblog.com/making-a-pollinator-house-part-1/

It is not necessary to bring anything to the class but you should wear "paint clothes" because this project will get messy.

There will be one surprise Door Prize during each class! It will be a supply item that is related to the project we are working on in that class.

I enjoyed this class very much. I was searching for a personal and hands on way to help pollinators. This class accomplished this for me. The lesson plan was well written out and easy to follow. The instructor Carolyn was very knowledgeable about the project. There is a lot of creativity built into this project. There are many colors to choose from as well as many stencil choices. The atmosphere was warm, friendly, and creative. I would recommend this class to others.
