Urban Macrame Fibers + West Elm Old Orchard

Join founder and the working hands behind Urban Macrame Fibers, Kenyatta Forbes, to learn the art of knotting. Create beautiful macrame with an urban and contemporary spin. Starting with basics like the square knot and lark’s head, you’ll craft a plant holder or using cotton rope, beads, and other decorative materials. Tasty bites and beverages will be served. (Pot and plant not included).

All supplies included:
- 100% Cotton Rope
- Wood Ring
- Beginners Knot Guide - A 'how to' of knots, images included, as well as FAQ and an intro to basic terms
- Live Instruction

You'll leave with a finished piece for your home or to gift to a loved one as well as enough knowledge to continue your macrame journey.

This is the second class I've taken with Kenyatta - she is a fabulous teacher! You definitely will learn macrame basics and feel comfortable continuing to experiment on your own. If Kenyatta sees that you have the hang of the knotting, she'll show you new tricks and techniques . I'll be back for more!

First, let me brag on the instructor, Kenyatta. She is AWESOME. Not only is she extremely talented and creative in her craft of Macrame, but she is just as talented and creative with her instructing. She uses fun references to describe how to do certain knots, and she tells jokes along the way. The class size I attended was the perfect size - big enough for everyone to feed off each other's energy, but small enough for Kenyatta to help each person individually, so that their finished products are unique to their personalities. I had no experience with Macrame before this and felt totally comfortable the whole time. Highly recommend!
