Event Overview

Join Emanuel of Citizen Carpentry in this demonstration class to learn how to work with walls. Participants will discuss the different materials that walls are made of and will learn proper techniques for hanging on each type. You’ll also learn about proper use of power drills, and will learn how to patch and repair sections of drywall with a variety of tools and products. This class is well-suited for new homeowners and DIY-ers interested in maintaining walls of their old St. Louis home instead of tearing them out.

This is an in-person class that will take place at Perennial. You will be assigned your own socially distanced work station, and will be required to wear a mask while you are here. Our full policies can be found here.

As a new home owner with plaster walls, I was super excited for this class. However, I was disappointed at the following:

    1. Most of the class focused on drywall install, which is fine, however, most of the participants were there to focus on plaster.
    2. 2 out of the 3 hours were lectured based and 1 hour was focused practicing my new skills. I would have benefited from more practice time in this risk free environment with more instruction on how improve.

I wouldn't pay to take this class again as I felt Youtube could have been just as beneficial. The instructor is certainly knowledgeable, but I felt the class could be more organized and structured better to increase the value to the students.
