Event Overview

If you've ever wanted to try your hand at making figurative or abstract sculptures, this exciting class will give you the opportunity to learn about many of the techniques and processes you can use to express yourself through sculpture.

Class will cover a wide range of basic sculpture topics that include materials, techniques and instructions of how to get started creating your own multi-media sculptures. The use of cloth, wire, plaster, cement, wax, found objects and clay we be explained in detail. Additionally, the importance and process of constructing a stable armature to support your sculpture will be demonstrated.

As part of the class, students will have the opportunity to construct a simple armature that will serve as a basis for creating their own unique figurative or abstract sculpture. Students will be provided with material the to construct the armature, and a list of material resources will be provided.

What to Bring

Bring your smile and a concept or drawing of what you might like to sculpt. Wire cutters, pliers - All optional

Mike describes himself as a self taught sculptor, maker, tinkerer and student of all things mechanical. His recent works have been shown at The St. Charles County, Lillian Yahn Gallery (2013) and The Three Rivers College, Tinnin Center Gallery. (2014)

He currently works in metal, clay, cement, wire, plaster and wax.
