Event Overview

Hemming is one of the most essential clothing alterations. In this class, you will learn multiple hemming techniques, including double fold hem, bias bound hem, and blind hem. The variety of techniques covered will give you the skills to hem skirts and dresses, trousers, and even shirt sleeves. Do you have garments with the side seams pulling apart? We will also discuss the basics of seam repair. Please bring a couple of garments with you that needs hemming or seam repair to practice on in class! You may bring in your own working sewing machine or use one of Perennial’s sewing machines.

Participants should have basic knowledge of how to use a sewing machine or have taken Perennial’s Sewing Machine Basics workshop.
