Event Overview

Learn the proper way to efficiently and humanely butcher a chicken for meat. This class is as hands-on as you feel comfortable. Many people are raising backyard chickens for eggs, however there comes a time when the chicken is no longer laying and you may wish to replace them with young chicks. Some may just want to gain a better understanding and respect for where their food comes from. At the end of this class you will be able to quickly and and humanely kill a chicken, pluck it, eviscerate and package the chicken to eat or freeze.

All instruction will be given in a respectful and sensitive manner and documentation will be provided. This class will be extremely informative, fast paced and also fun.

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST

City-girl turned farmer, I learned about growing on the fly. With two children with severe food allergies and another child on the way, I needed to take back control of our food. I knew the food industry didn't have my family's best interest at heart and it was my job to keep my children both safe and healthy. Growing our food seemed like a natural choice. With these same goals and ideals, I started our urban farm.
