Event Overview
Russ Kempton is coming back to Central Texas. He will bring whiskies you probably haven't tried before, or if you have, have not had in a class! Russ is a National Spirits educator with a vast knowledge of whisky to share! For those of you who joined this group asking for classes to help you learn more about Scotch, this is one of the best we get all year! We have so much fun and learn so much when Russ comes to town!
This class will be held at The Independent, Austin's newest residential building. Some folks call it the Jenga Building. One of our members, Jose, has the use of the public spaces there and offered to host Russ there for a class. The class will be on Floor 34 in the Owner's Lounge. Parking is street parking, but best to take rideshare if possible.
The class will be two hours+ of learning and having fun with Russ, a world-class Spirits Educator!

Some things to be discussed in the class:
Scotch whisky – Blends and Single Malts – Country of origin is exclusively Scotland. The distillery's style, cereal grains used (single malts must be distilled from 100% malted barley and blends are a combination of various cereal grains) and steps to a finished product are crucial in identifying the differences.
Each of the 120+ operating distilleries have their own unique traits due to its location and techniques = TIME / PLACE / ENVIRONMENT plays the vital role.
