Event Overview

Learn to sew a professional looking wallet with metal clasp. The Diva Frame Wallet is my new favorite accessory (I’ve made 3)!  This is a super simple wallet, easy to make and will help further your technical sewing and construction skills.


In this class 3-4 hour workshop, you will learn in the ins and outs of cutting, stabilizing fabrics and a professional level of sewing and finishing. This is a beginner class but some knowledge of sewing is preferred.


*You are welcome to bring your own fabrics if you feel inspired by a fabric from your stash or want to purchase your own.
*You are welcome to buy your own pattern: buy your own pattern.
*You are welcome to bring your own machine. Please let me know in advance.

What to Bring

You will need two fat quarters (cut size of each 18” x 22”) and contrast fabrics and colors. Feel free to bring your own sewing machine, just let me know1

Minimum age

Prerequisites

Basic sewing experience and knowledge of threading a machine and winding a bobbin is required.

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST

Alexis Schaffer is a Philadelphia based Designer and Pattern maker with a BFA in Fashion Design from Moore College of Art and Design. She has additionally, studied Leather Accessory Design & Patternmaking in New York at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Alexis has worked for a number of companies in the Fashion Industry and started her own brand designing & selling Pet & People Products on Etsy. Currently, Alexis is working as a Softgoods Designer & Patternmaker at a local baby product company.

Alexis' love for embroidery and embroidery design has given her the opportunity to have had design positions designing embroidery for a number of companies including Goodland Apparel (Phila), Andrew & Co Sportswear (NY), Michael Simon (NY). In true Philly style, Alexis has created patterns and costumes for a number of Mummers brigades.

Alexis has been instructing all levels of sewing at various local Art Centers and including her Alma mater, Moore College of Art and Design.
She’s a wiz at turning newbies and beginners in to confident sewist!
