Event Overview
In this class you will learn how to make a beautiful macramé plant hanger. Angela Malchionno of Enamel will teach macramé knotting techniques and help you create your own one-of-a-kind piece. Price includes all supplies as well as a beautiful 6” fern to display in your new macramé hanger. This workshop is limited to eight people.
Macramé is a form of textile-making using knotting rather than weaving or knitting. Its primary knots are the square knot (a variant of the reef knot) and forms of "hitching": full hitch and double half hitches. It was long crafted by sailors, especially in elaborate or ornamental knotting forms, to decorate anything from knife handles to bottles to parts of ships.
Angela Malchionno of Enamel is a maker who loves texture, color, and simplicity. Her studio produces limited edition goods for your home, specializing in handmade corded works and macramé. She has led workshops in Shibori, concrete casting and more with the belief that anyone can be creative and find satisfaction in DIY.

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST
A vision blossoms into reality. The roots of Bowood Farms' location in the Central West End were first planted in the fields of Clarksville, Missouri in 1989. After nearly two decades of growing a strong reputation as a wholesale perennial grower, Bowood Farms decided to expand its reach into the St. Louis retail market. Strong family ties to the Central West End led to the discovery of a decaying automotive repair/plastics/cabinet manufacturing warehouse dating back to the 1920's, in which the visionaries at Bowood Farms saw the makings of a natural greenhouse-style facility. Excited to join in the revitalization efforts taking place in the city of St. Louis, they began the rehab of the building in January 2005 and filled it with plants in April 2006. Today, Bowood Farms' CWE location still receives the majority of its plants from the 4th generation family farm in Clarksville. The Bowood team continually seeks out the best plant vendors to complement their offerings so there is always something blooming no matter what time of year. Inspired by the concept of uniting house and garden, the new retail venture also allowed for Bowood Farms to expand its offerings to include an enticing selection of home and garden gifts that are inspired by nature and bring the outdoors in. It all comes full circle with the addition of Café Osage, a breakfast and lunch spot where you can sit outside among the plants as you dine on organic, house-made selections. No matter what brings you to the big chartreuse doors, you will definitely enjoy the experience!
