Event Overview
Healthy Is Now® is a collaboration between Doctor of Chinese Medicine and Licensed Acupuncturist, Afua Bromley and Naturopathic Doctor, Jamila Owens-Todd. The goal of this duo is to collectively provide clinical evidence with applied scientific data, to understanding health and the states of imbalance, often referred to as dis-ease. This powerful team has over 28 years of combined experience that they are enthusiastic in sharing with you. Please join us in our first quest to provide you quality, practical and informed data for your healing success.
This event will explore the Traditional Chinese Medical and Naturopathic approaches to healing allergies and supporting immune health. There will be an interactive discussion with acupressure demonstrations as well as tastings of herbal remedies that are best used for immune health. The discussion will follow with a Q&A session.

BIO
Afua Bromley, MSOM, L.Ac., Dipl. Ac(NCCAOM), is a 1998 graduate of the Florida College of Integrative Medicine (formerly the National College of Oriental Medicine) in Orlando, FL. After graduation, she also completed a summer internship at Yu Huang Ding Hospital in Yantai, China.
She served on the MO Governor’s Acupuncture Advisory Committee (Missouri’s acupuncture regulatory committeee) from 1999-2006, helping write the rules and regulations for the State of Missouri after its licensing law was passed. She has also served as President of the Acupuncture Association of Missouri and now serves on the board of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). In addition to her private practice, Afua also worked at CHIPS(Community Health-In-Partnership Services), a multi-specialty clinic for uninsured and underinsured individuals in north St. Louis from 2000-2012. Throughout her career, she has worked to promote equal access to quality integrative medical to those in underserved communities particularly African-American and Latino communities as well as those living with HIV/AIDS. She is founder of Universal Holistic Healthcare Service, a nonprofit 501(c)(3), dedicated to providing acupuncture and integrative medicine through service and empowerment education, through such activities and STD/HIV prevention education, nutrition workshops and a women’s support group for those living with HIV/AIDS.

Jamila Owens-Todd, ND is a board certified Naturopathic Doctor certified by the American Alternative Medical Association, and graduated from the four-year, Naturopathic Doctor degree program at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (ccnm.edu), one of the seven federally accredited four year medical schools in North America for formal studies in Naturopathic Medicine.
Jamila has a passion for helping others heal themselves. A Naturopathic Doctor is a teacher first, and Jamila has pledged to educate and provide insight in regaining your innate healing power. Jamila sees patients within her clinic, The Meridian Institute for Naturopathic Therapies (MINT) on a daily basis.
Continuing education has been a consistent principle within her practice and provides room for continued knowledge, growth and healing capabilities. Further training has been pursued in integrative hormone therapies, natural hormone balance, mental/emotional health and healing, energetic medicine and homeopathy, oncology and cancer research and support as well as holistic pediatric care.
The driving passion that motivates Jamila is being an educator. She has lectured in her own space at MINT. She has served as a guest lecturer at institutions such as Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis University School of Medicine, St. Louis County Department of Health, various medical and chiropractic practices, community organizations, youth groups and religious institutions. In addition to lecturing, Jamila has had eight guest spots on Great Day St. Louis, on KMOV Channel 4 television, a guest appearance on Show Me St. Louis, on KSDK Channel 5 television and has been interviewed on local television station STL TV. In addition to television, there have been guest radio appearances on KMOX AM 1120 as well as WGNU AM 920. Jamila has appeared in various print publications such as the St. Louis American newspaper, St. Louis’ Vital Voice, Vanderbilt University’s school newspaper, and in CCNM’s Alumni News.
Jamila has maintained a longstanding interest in the natural health care profession and has pursued rigorous studies in Naturopathic Medicine in order to better serve the public. In her studies, she has had the opportunity to work with a diverse patient base, treating a multitude of physical and mental ailments. Jamila has also worked in specialty clinics focusing on HIV positive patients and treating within Native-Canadian communities.
Her career path started with studying the sciences at the University of Missouri-Saint Louis. Jamila completed her university education by obtaining Bachelor degrees in both, Chemistry and French. As a Chemist, She has worked for a private industry, government, at the Food and Drug Administration and within the pharmaceutical industry at a top pharmaceutical company in the Research and Development Department.
In addition to formal studies, continuing education and the clinic practice, Jamila has been involved within her community by volunteering as a youth mentor and has held a volunteer board member position for an organization responsible for incorporating science as an extracurricular option for youth. Jamila currently continues in her volunteer efforts within the St. Louis community with women in a transitional setting.
Jamila is a wife and a mother and allows both titles to keep her on a constant path of growth and humility. She, along with her family, is an avid supporter of a local and sustainable lifestyle.
