Event Overview

Knife throwing!!!...Sharpen your hand eye coordination, Impress your friends, and vanquish your enemies!!! Okay I'm' just kidding about that last part. This is for entertainment purposes only. My name is Terry and I am a working professional knife thrower who would like to share a little of what I have learned to those interested. We will be covering knife throwing basics, what to look for in a good throwing knife, tomahawk throwing, and just having a good time.

The class will take place in Lafayette Square at the Strange Folk Festival and we will all be throwing at an actual "Wheel Of Death" that I use in my act. I would like to keep this low key and just have a good time.

The Dabble table is in a tent on Park Avenue just east of Mississippi and Knife Throwing will be taking place in the parking lot at the intersection of Park Avenue and Vail. Have fun!.

I'm just a good ol' boy, Never meanin' no harm... I grew up throwing knives with my grandfather prior to spending years competing and learning different knife throwing techniques all around the country. For the last six years I have been focusing my techniques on consistency and accuracy in order to provide exciting entertainment for different sideshow and circus arts venues. I have studied and publicly performed as an "impalement artist" with knife throwing, tomahawk throwing, whip cracking, and cowboy lariat.

This was such a fun class, and a fun bunch of fellow students! Who knew knife throwing could be such a hoot.

Such an amazing class!!! Terry knows his stuff and is really patient as you learn a new skill. We threw knives and axes and the teacher went above and beyond the call of duty and made a really nice BBQ spread. Great fun with a great teacher!

This was a fantastic class. Relaxed environment, one on one time with the teacher, and a lot of amazing food. I'd take it again.

For years I have wanted to learn how to throw knives and thought it looked pretty easy. After taking this class I learned how much skill actually goes into it. Our teacher, Terry Bates, was very thorough and payed close attention to our arms and wrists as we threw. I was not having any luck getting a single knife to stick until he adjusted the way I held the knife and the distance I stood from the target. I then got five in a row, which felt pretty damn good. He also provided the entire class with really amazing BBQ and had knives for us to purchase after the class so we could practice at home. I would strongly recommend this class for anyone interested in the subject matter or who just wanted to have fun.
