Event Overview

Learn about fueling an active lifestyle with nutrition and exercise professionals while building community in the HIIT Cafe Summer Exercise Class Series. Each class will begin with 30 minutes of high intensity interval training (HIIT) followed by nutrition education and socializing. The cost of the class will include exercise instruction, snacks*, and coffee. Classes will be held on Saturdays 6/10, 6/17, and 6/24 from 10:00-11:00am in Tower Grove Park. Registration is on a class-by-class basis. Classes do not build on one another, so sign up for one, two, or all three! Come ready to break a sweat, enjoy local coffee, meet new workout buddies, and get your nutrition and exercise questions answered!


Location and time**: Meet at the Grand Boulevard entrance on the east side of Tower Grove Park between 9:45 and 10:00am. Class will run from 10:00-11:00am on Saturdays 6/10/17, 6/17/17, and 6/24/17.

  • 6/10- Balancing Act: A Balanced Diet for the Active Lifestyle

  • 6/17- Hydration 101: Fueling Up While Cooling Down

  • 6/24- Protein Power (Plant-Based Style)


About the instructors: Patty Nonnie, Dana Colla, and Stefanie Sismaet are dietetic interns and graduate students at Saint Louis University. They will be Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) upon graduation and passing their licensing/registration examinations in August 2017. Patty is also a Certified Personal Trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM-CPT) and group exercise instructor. Patty enjoys HIIT, road cycling, and middle distance running. Dana enjoys weight training and cardio. Stefanie enjoys yoga and dancing. **Classes are held weather-permitting. If class is canceled due to weather or other outstanding circumstances, the instructors will notify students via text message 1 hour prior to the start of class. Make-up classes will be scheduled for the same time the following day.

What to Bring

Required: gym shoes, appropriate exercise attire (no jeans), and a water bottleRecommended: beach towel, hand towel, and lawn chair

Patty is a nutrition and physical performance dietetic intern and graduate student at Saint Louis University, a group exercise instructor, and Certified Personal Trainer by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM-CPT). Patty enjoys HIIT, road cycling, middle distance running, gardening, and cooking. Her passion is helping others finding ways to make their lives happier and healthier.

    This class was really fun! The HIIT was a great workout and it couldn't have been a better day for it. Also, at the end we had coffee and overnight oats which were both great. I'll be going again
