Placitas, NM resident Kayleen Dowell was first introduced to shibori dyeing techniques by the fabric artist Julia March Crocetto while living in Alaska. She currently takes creative inspiration from walks in the desert high country, from the constantly- changing big-sky views that surround her mountain abode, and from the bright stars and kaleidoscopic re-visioning given through seasonal transitions.
Her journey has brought her to an embrace of the eldering process and an exploration of that inevitability within dedicated community.
She is eager to share the basic techniques for resist dyeing with others so they can experience the excitement and elation of creating their own art.

This was such a fun class. The techniques were easy to learn and we produced beautiful art without having to spend hours! The best part was that no design was bad... everything turned out great in its own way. I really enjoyed the freedom and flexibility of this art.
