Event Overview

The art of urban sketching is all about embracing the imperfections. Capturing what you see on paper is like a long shutter on a camera. You are quickly recording shapes, textures and movement. You will find yourself steering away from the need for perfection, and instead introducing energy into your illustrations.

This class is suitable for beginners and intermediate watercolorists and sketchers alike. We will be drawing scenes outside such as buildings and landscapes. You will learn how to frame your scene, adjust composition in your favor, and how to enhance and detract details to end up with an intentional final result.

All materials provided for the class and to keep.

This was our second Urban Sketching experience with Peggy. It was wonderful. We loved the Ponce Market location! Peggy makes drawing seem easy. Her explanations are clear and come from her experience as a self-taught artist. I love her emphasis on the process and not the final product. It’s inspiring to have a teacher who can help you embrace your mistakes. Peggy is so down to earth, encouraging, and funny. You’ll feel like she’s an old friend who can help you take your work to the next level! My daughter and I were thrilled to have this opportunity to learn from Peggy. Dianne D.
