Event Overview
Have your friends and relatives tried acupuncture but you have been nervous to try it? Have you been curious about how acupuncture works, but not really known where to find reliable information? Are you concerned about what it feels like to have acupuncture because you're not too crazy about the idea of paying someone to poke needles into your skin but at the same time you don't know where else to turn for your (insomnia, digestive problems, menstrual cramps, headaches, back pain, etc) because western/"regular" medicine hasn't really been able to address these questions for you?
This class, taught by a medical doctor (MD) who is also a licensed acupuncturist (LAc), is the answer to your questions.
Dr. Leslie Smith will explain how acupuncture works from both a western and an eastern perspective. She will share some of the scientific studies with you that have been done using acupuncture and other Asian medical modalities. She will then explain the holistic approach of Traditional Asian Medicine and how both one's past health history and current health habits are impacting disease or wellness.
This class includes a demonstration, if you would like to participate (no pressure !), of acupuncture for each attendee as well as a treatment using auricular acupuncture designed to treat stress and promote wellness.
