MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST

I specialize in teaching students of all talent levels and abilities. I come to dance with an extensive background in dance, sports and music. The years of experience as a dancer combined with my passion for dance gives me great insight and provides students with the best possible individualized training that can help them towards reaching their goals. I believe in making dancing fun and only a sport if you want! I can be very technical if need be. It is wonderful that I have so many students who spend their hard earned money and so much of their time with me. I have a lot of patience when it comes to teaching singles and couples how to dance. Our location is great, close to the train and and there is plenty of street parking. I have confidence in my students' potential and abilities. Our staff has qualified training, degrees and certifications. Proper dance education is very important because there are so many factors that dance education can prevent as far as injuries.I want to share with you what I have learned about dance.

I have a passion for dance. Over the last 25 years I've built my career as a dancer, teacher and school owner. I have been teaching dance for over 20 years and have coached many professionals and amateurs to achieve their goal, whether that is to become a United States champion or simply learning a few moves to use at the local night club or the first dance of a wedding. I've performed internationally, been featured on television and worked with some of the most renowned dance companies in the world. My success is built on seeking out the best coaches and the best training.
After almost 30 years of dancing, I’m still finding ways to improve. In my training, I am looking for the most efficient and effective way to train. As a Pro/Am teacher, I've won many Top Teacher awards, and trained other Top Teachers.

With my professional partner, I was two-times United States Champions (defeating the then US & World Champions) and captured the World Invitational Exhibition title at the British Open (Blackpool). We were featured on and have provided expert commentary on television programs for NBC, ABC, CBS, PBS and abroad on BBC, ESPN and Eurosport. For 7 years we were soloists on the PBS shows “Championship Ballroom Dancing” and “America’s Ballroom Challenge” I've performed and coached extensively in Europe, Asia and the USA, performing with symphonies in a full concert written around us, performing for world-renowned jazz and ballet companies such as the Joffrey Ballet and Giordano Jazz Dance, and creating choreography for Hubbard Street 2. I danced professionally with the San Francisco Ballet, the Milwaukee Ballet, the American Folk Ballet, and many other smaller ballet and modern dance companies in the US and in France.
I am a National Judge and I have judged extensively, including for the largest and most prestigious competitions in the US, such as the United States Dance Championships, the Ohio Star Ball and the Emerald Ball. I've judged or danced with the dancers on ‘Dancing with the Stars.’ For 12 years I co- organized a major ballroom dance competition in Chicago before selling it. I am a DVIDA examiner for amateur students and professionals wanting to pass graded examinations and a trainer for professionals wanting to earn a teacher's certification. I founded a comprehensive vocational Dance Teacher’s Training Program called Ballroom University. I have been training professionals for over 10 years. I have Championship Certifications in all 5 ballroom styles (Latin,Standard, Rhythm, Smooth, Theatre Arts) and extensive training in Salsa, Argentine Tango, Hustle and other night club styles. My original training was in ballet (both Vaganova and Ceccheti), modern dance (in particular Graham and Cunningham), Flamenco and African.

I am a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley which I attended on scholarship. In college I studied acting, singing and technical stagecraft. I earned an MBA from one of the best business schools in the world, the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University,
