MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST
As a small child, Sara Jane spent hours playing with antique treasures that she found at local thrift markets and garage sales inventing new bracelets, necklaces and rings. Pretending to be Coco Chanel, Elsa Schiaparellli, or a 20’s flapper girl, Sara Jane draped herself in her homemade jewels from head to toe.
When the eclectic European ‘New Romantics’ invasion hit in the States in the early 80s Sara Jane’s mind was blown. Simon LeBon and the boys from Duran Duran burst into her consciousness dresses in sharp suits with oh so perfect hair and unbelievably catchy melodies. Sara Jane was entranced. It’s thanks to DD that Sara Jane’s jeweled designs now took on a decidedly 80’s feel - Large, chunky and alive with color.
After graduating from New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois as a Molly Ringwald doppelganger, Sara Jane headed off to Syracuse University in upstate New York where her design skills were further developed and refined. It was here that Sara Jane began melding the timeless Chanel/20s aesthetic with modern pop feel and began designing jewelry under the See Jane Sparkle name for friends, family, friends and fellow kindred spirits.
Over the following decades, her little DYI cottage industry grew to the point where her jewels were carried in boutiques throughout Chicagoland, and in January of 2012 the dream of opening her own boutique, See Jane Sparkle, was finally realized.
At See Jane Sparkle, Sara Jane continues to design here signature pieces and lines for her boutique inspired by travels around the world - where inspiration is just around the bend.
