Playing with Film Photography - No Camera Required!
5 Have Dabbled
Arts & DIY
Moving into a digital world has left behind the unpredictability, patience, and consideration behind that goes into taking pictures. If the idea of going back to this world via film photography appeals to you, but you're not sure where or how to start or you want fresh inspiration, this class is for you.
Have you never picked up a camera in your life, but want to play with film? Do you have a film camera that you inherited our bought and you're not sure how to use it? Do you already play around with your camera but want to take your skills to the next level? All levels are welcome.
We will provide you with a very user-friendly Diana Mini (please note that this is a very simple 'toy' camera - we will not be dealing with prosumer or professional cameras yet!), or you can bring in your own 35mm or 120 medium format camera. We will show you how to load the film and use the camera, as well as show you techniques for getting the most out of shooting. A roll of film and processing fees are included, and your scans will be emailed to you in two weeks or less. After the workshop, we'll go on a walk through Wicker Park and show you some tips and tricks of shooting film after which you can turn in your film for processing.
This class will teach you the basics of shooting on 35mm or 120 film and you will have your very own roll of scans to show for it afterwards; you can even get prints for a small additional fee.
