MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST

Purple Asparagus educates children, families, and the community about eating that’s good for the body and the planet. We bring delicious, nutritious hands-on adventures to schools, community organizations, and farmers’ markets throughout Chicagoland.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

IT’S GOOD TO EAT “CLOSE TO THE GROUND.”

Incorporating a variety of fresh vegetables into our diet makes for interesting snacks and meals.

DIFFERENT IS GOOD.

New-to-us fruits, vegetables and whole grains can replace processed foods and help develop healthier lifestyles at the same time.

EATING WELL AND PREPARING OUR OWN FOOD CAN BE FUN!

Adding fun and enjoyment to the food prep process is essential to long-term success.

COOKING IS A FAMILY AFFAIR.

Raising awareness and teaching practical skills means that everyone can pitch in around the table.

EAT LOCALLY, BUT THINK GLOBALLY.

Eating dishes from other cultures promotes tolerance, understanding and adventure!

GET TO KNOW YOUR FARMER.

Strike up a conversation with your local farmers or producer and you just might learn something new – while gaining a newfound respect for the earth and our community.

COOKING BUILDS CONNECTIONS.

Cooking together brings children, friends, neighbors and family back to the kitchen, creating a community centered around good food.
