39 Have Dabbled
Business & Technology
Do you know what your dream job is? Great! That's the first step.
So now what? In this class we will go over how to market yourself and rise above all the other candidates to land the job of your dreams. It doesn't matter what field it is because there are certain things that EVERY employer is looking for in a future hire. Really it's about standing out. This class' perspective is outside of conventional wisdom, this isn't your mom's career services advice!
Dabblers will learn best practices, adding personality to your resume (you need to pass the "Would I want to have a beer with you" test after all), what makes a good and bad "cover" email (often their first impression of you) and the best channel to make a connection.
Past reviews of this class:
"This class was fantastic. It offered me ideas I hadn't ever heard before. She offered out-of-the-box ideas, insight into an area she clearly knows well, and do so in a fun, interesting way."
"I don't think you could have found a much better instructor. Maria had a wealth of valuable information and was also a very strong presenter."
"The class was great. Tons of information, great presentation and the instructor was friendly and answered all questions with respect and quality info."
Maria was an Art Director at Y&R in New York for 6 years and created award winning campaigns. (Her first commercial was a super bowl spot). Most recently, she was Director of Chicago Portfolio School, a grad level school for designers and advertising creatives, where her responsibilities included developing relationships with ad agencies and design firms, working closely with graduates as they finalized their portfolios, job placement and teaching "Marketing Your Book," a class that focused on job finding strategies and skills for 16 sessions. Think of Maria as a personal trainer for your career. She has coached hundreds of people to break into the uber competitive fields of design and advertising, and land their dream job as designers, art directors and copywriters.
