Event Overview
How many times have you asked your children to “calm down” or told them to “pay attention”? Probably a billion, right? But…. Have you ever taught them how to calm down or how to pay attention? In this Mindfulness for Kids class your child will learn just that…and much more! Through a series of creative art projects, engaging meditations, challenging (but fun!) games, yoga, and seeing, hearing, & breathing exercises, your child will learn the basics of mindfulness in a memorable and enjoyable learning environment. They’ll leave the class excited to continue their practice and inspired to teach others what they’ve learned!
As they progress through school, kids are increasingly capable of self-awareness and tuning in to their emotions. They naturally live in the present moment but increasing stressors and demands begin to pull them in different directions and they often find themselves stuck in anxiety about the past or the future. Given the challenging events taking place all around us, kids today are more stressed out than ever. They need our guidance in navigating their complex emotional worlds.
Mindfulness helps children accept their experiences rather than react to them with frustration or avoidance. Hundreds of studies have documented the mental and physical health benefits of mindfulness for children. Some of those benefits include reduced stress and anxiety, improved self-awareness, more kindness, more compassion, improved self-regulation, improved social skills, improved focus, and enhanced optimism about life. Children will benefit greatly throughout the rest of their lives by consciously infusing mindfulness into their everyday routines…now.
