Event Overview

MakeAMosaic is a series of mosaic classes hosted by local public art nonprofit, Green Star Movement.

At each session, experienced Green Star Movement teaching artists will introduce participants to basic mosaic techniques such as design, tile application, and grouting*, and students will design and create their very own mosaic project.

At this class, students will mosaic a set of four coasters. The coasters measure 3.5" square.

Details: All materials are included. Classes take place at our studio at Lacuna Artist Lofts in Pilsen. Free parking is available.

*Grouting demonstrations will be given in class, however students will grout their work at home since the tile adhesive needs 24 hours to set.

Green Star Movement

MakeAMosaic classes are taught by Michal Taylor, one of Green Star Movement's finest teaching artists. Since joining the organization in 2010, he has worked with hundreds of youth to design, create, and install dozens of bricolage murals in schools, parks, and community centers throughout Chicago and beyond.

In fact, the bio picture shows Michal in Brazil standing in front of a mural that he helped members of one of Rio de Janeiro's favelas create and install in January 2015.
