Event Overview
Shift your consciousness through writing and empower your natural healing abilities. While occupying your rational and analytical left brain through the act of writing, your right brain is, according to psychotherapist, Maud Purcell, “free to do what it does best, i.e. create, intuit and feel.” If you’ve ever journaled you may understand this experience.
Writing from the Depth is for those who have never journaled before and those who have. This workshop is 1/4 lecture and 3/4 activity based. We will practice releasing your implicit fear of being vulnerably honest through the private, introspective act of journaling while finding encouragement and support through community. Led by Rebekah Hall and Miranda Steffens, both authors, teachers, graduates of the SAIC MFA Writing program, and life-long journalers. We will explore a variety of approaches to journaling, including prompt-based writing, automatic writing, and intentional writing. Participants will leave with the tools and inspiration to continue to use journaling as a method for exploration, self-discovery, and catharsis. Bring a notebook or journal and your preferred pen or pencil. Dress comfortably.
We are committed to making our course accessible to everyone. Please let us know of any accommodation you may need and we will do our best to fulfill your request.
