About this Event

This workshop is ideal for any level and includes light camera/phone operation basics & technique best practices (feel free to bring your camera, but no need!).

There will be heavy focus on types of composition and tricks for finding unique angles, photo ops and more. Finally, we’ll wrap up with a Q&A session (and maybe some hilariously awkward travel stories)! Light refreshments will be served and there will be a raffle!

Cost

Less than a Chipotle steak burrito with guac ($10) AND you could win our raffle prize.

Ticket sales will benefit the Cultural Kitchen & Community Expressions programs of Hostelling International Chicago, which provide horizon-broadening educational programming for Chicagoland youth.

About Hosteling International Chicago

HI Chicago is part of HI USA, a nonprofit education organization founded on an enduring belief in the power of travel to foster a deeper understanding of people, places, and the world around. HI USA promotes a dynamic community of global citizens who have the wisdom and humanity to actively make the world a better place.

About the Cultural Kitchen Program

Cultural Kitchen helps students articulate their own cultural identities while gaining a greater understanding of, and appreciation for, diverse global cultures. Participants complete several research assignments about another country’s cultural norms and then demonstrate what they learned by preparing a meal and presenting their research on the country’s culture and cultural identity to hostel guests.

About the Community Expressions Program

Community Expressions gives students the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of their community and cultural identity and consider how to make a positive impact in their neighborhood and the world at large. Participants create an original painting, dance, recitation or other artistic interpretation of their neighborhood, then prepare a meal and present their work to guests.

HI Chicago is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that works to inspire a genuine understanding of people, places and cultures for a more tolerant world. www.hichicago.org

While I knew most of the content, it was well presented and the teacher answered (and researched) my pre-class question to share with everyone, which I appreciated.
