Event Overview
Some people pick up a t-shirt and think to themselves "this here t-shirt covers my lady / man bits, and it's clean. (Sniff) ... Yeah. It's clean. I think I'll wear it."
And others pick up a t-shirt and see a canvas upon which to display a piece of art. A social message, a look into the future or past, a way to say "I've been there, lived that."
If you're of the former camp, do your damn laundry, then come to this class. If you're of the latter camp, you're among friends.
This screen printing workshop for artists, hobbyists and the curious alike walks students through the typical day at a busy Chicago screen printing biz. You'll learn tips for how to start your own printing studio, or hacks for making fresh tees at home, including:
- The process of turning art into screens
- Dark room developing, emulsion & burning
- Color theory, prepping surfaces & determining inks
- Alignment, printing & drying practices
+ More.
Then, we'll put theory to practice by screen printing our own tees! We'll practice seeing the t-shirt as art with soft, cozy shirts as blank canvases, and each student will walk away with a two-color printed Chicago pride t-shirt perfect for repping at street fairs, festivals & concerts this summer.

No prior screen - printing experience necessary!

You can tell that these guys love what they do. Their passion shines throughout the class, and I can't recommend it enough. They walked us through the entire process, and then set us loose on the machines...I had a great time.

I was really excited to try screen printing. I had never done it before and really had no concept of what the process involved. But as soon as I saw a class pop up on dabble, I signed us up right away.
It was great- I learned about the process, got my hands dirty, and left with an awesome t-shirt and a fun tote.

Good class and friendly staff. Could have been more hands on but the process is simple enough that some steps can be skipped. A good exposure at the screen printing technique at a fair price.
