Event Overview

Have you ever thought about what being a man means for you? Do you find difficulty expressing how you feel as you navigate relationships, life transitions, the pressures of parenting or partnerships? Do you find yourself angry or frustrated by violence against women and want to explore ways you can work towards a more gender equitable world?

If any of these questions intrigue you, join this four-hour interactive group workshop and connect with other male-identified people. This workshop is intended for male-identified individuals to take part in a series of activities, reflections, and exercises to develop a deeper understanding of how toxic masculinity can impact their relationships, mental health, life transitions, and contribute to violence against women. The goal of the workshop is to develop a set of tools to express emotions, cultivate healthier partnerships and relationships, and leave with skills to interrupt cycles of violence against women within our communities. We will explore various intersections of masculinity with race, class, gender identity, and sexual orientation.

I am very thankful for the thought and effort that was taken in designing and facilitating this workshop. I had the opportunity to unpack many stories related to the way maculanity has shown up in my life in healthy and unhealthy ways. I was pleasantly surprised by the level of vulnerability that other participants demonstrated throughout the session. It allowed me to feel more comfortable continuing to share my own experience.

Really appreciated the class. The conversation sparked some self exploration to continue to look into and it was great to hear from the vast array of experiences in the room.

I went in not really knowing what to expect, came away with potential new friends and much to think about both in terms of the various healthy and unhealthy ways that I experience/express my own masculinity as well as what I feel is a better connection with the way other men around me experience their own. It's easy to feel like there aren't many places or opportunities in society for men to feel like it is okay to be vulnerable and I am grateful to Khaled for putting the effort in to make space for it in this way.

Disclaimer: I work for Dabble but after taking and dropping in on over 100+ Dabble experiences THIS workshop was seriously outstanding. Meeting together with a group of strangers to talk about a very loaded topic both personally and in the news, I wasn't sure what to expect. Khaled led the group through a truly impactful conversation with skill, sensitivity, humor, and professionalism. I've never experienced such a powerful workshop and look forward to continuing the conversation with the coming book club and follow-up events. If you want to challenge the way you or society thinks of men and masculinity in our culture - this is an experience not to be missed.
