Oh no. It's happening again. You feel your heart begin to race, your breath coming in shorter gasps. Your chest clenches painfully, like a fist. Your face grows hot as dread overtakes you. You feel trapped and miserable, and all you want is for this feeling to GO AWAY.
We all experience anxiety from time to time, but some of us suffer from it more than others. It can make everyday life a living hell, and can be difficult to explain to those who don't endure it. Thankfully, while anxiety and panic attacks are horrible, they CAN be managed, and even defeated. Some sufferers of anxiety require professional help, in the form of therapy or medication, but there are also many effective self-help strategies to try. That's what this class is all about!
This Dabble class is essentially Anxiety 101. Students will learn about what anxiety is, how it works, and, most importantly, how to deal with it. We'll go over a panoply of self-help techniques for managing anxiety in the moment, while also stressing the importance of self-care for minimizing anxiety levels in general. Students will be encouraged to share their own experiences with anxiety, so that we can all learn from each other.
Make managing your anxiety a priority. You have the power to feel better!

Rebecca Witheridge has suffered from panic attacks since she was eight years old. Serendipitously, she was blessed with two psychologists for parents! Their knowledge on the subject, coupled with her own research, has been invaluable as she has battled her anxiety. Realizing that most people who suffer from anxiety aren't armed from birth with techniques to deal with it, Rebecca is teaching this class so that others might benefit from her experiences. She is excited for the opportunity to help others learn about the anxiety they face, and to share with them some effective strategies that they can employ in their every day lives.
The handout that Rebecca provided was a great "one stop shop" for everything that I need to know about the subject. I felt that I got so much out of being able to share my experiences and hear others' experiences. This opportunity was quite useful.
