ALERT: This year, 2018, will be the last year to register for scheduled Mandalas on Vinyl Records classes. I will be focusing on the new paper designing class and experiences kids and adults can do together.
Bookings within less than 24 hours before class time might have to be rescheduled.
THE CLASS:
Learn easy, peasy techniques to mandala drawing or do your own style of art making as you design your own vintage vinyl record with colored pencils.
No need to have any drawing experience.
All supplies included.
BYOB optional. Food and snacks welcome.
Class sizes are small so they are extra fun and attentive. All supplies including hanging material included. Makes for great Wall Art :)
Your class will be conveniently located close to the Berwyn Red Line and many buses. Street parking is available.
We do not provide refunds, but we do work to tailor our classes to our students schedules. For more information on our policies, visit: https://www.seedscenter.org/terms-and-conditions/
Hope to see you there!
All ages welcome
We provide all the materials :)
Seeds Center is, in essence, a multi-experience and multi-inter-generational learning hub for all to join. Our free "stepping stone" programs, which began in 2017, experiment and explore inclusive, connected, positive, and possible learning processes and viable options for the open public. Seeds Center is currently rooted in the physical location of Unity Community Center of Unity Lutheran Church, and open and affirming institution, located in one of the most socioeconomically diverse areas in Chicago close to the micro-areas of the Asian community on Argyle in Uptown, the bustling Andersonville, the Bryn Mawr Historic District. While conventional learning in the US has been more segregated in terms of age and opportunity, less experience-based/hands-on, and less integrated across disciplines (particularly in the creative and “practical” realms), Seeds Center hopes to challenge such notions by creating change from the bottom up. The theory is based on Seeds Center founder, Charlotte Lin’s philosophy that learning is truly the key to thriving and if we instill the best ways to learn and plant them into the community, we can start to create unimaginable positive changes for our future.
Overall, I had a great time at my (one-on-one) class. Charlotte was waiting outside for me in the snow when I got to the church and I was so pleased she didn’t cancel the class on me even though I ended up being the only person signed up. We talked for most of the two hour class - a mix of her giving me an intro to the project, learning about her organization and generally getting to know each other. She was also great about offering creative guidance when I asked her what she thought of my progress. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a low stress, cathartic creative outlet.

This was such a cool project! Charlotte was very personable and had everything ready to go when we got there, including an info sheet that was very useful. It was a fun class and gave me and my sis something new to do together. Whether you're a long time creative or not, I recommended it to all!!

Great class held inside a quaint coffee shop. The instructor's enthusiasm was contagious. It was easy learn and finish in a single class with no prior experience. We were even treated to hot tea served in antique teapots and teacups which was a bonus.

The teacher of this class was so lovely-- just wanted to chat and have a good time! There wasn't a lot of specific instruction which allowed us to grab some stencils and run with it. Class didn't run the whole time and wasn't overcrowded--which was appreciated--and I loved that all the materials were included! Would absolutely take a class with her again.

Charlotte was awesome and really committed to teaching. She showed us the basics and gave us little tips on how to get the best color out of drawing on the vinyls. There were only two of us, and when she saw that we each had specific visions, she let us just go at it. We all had great conversation and left with awesome vinyls!

This class was a really fun and relaxing way to spend part of a Sunday afternoon! The craft is easy enough that even your first record will look good and it also got me thinking about all the other designs I could make. There are a variety of stencils for use during the class. Charlotte, the instructor, is very patient and helpful. As an added bonus, Charlotte provided us with Command strips and advised us on the best way to hang our records once we got home. I highly recommend this class!
