Event Overview

Ever wanted to edit photos, make a flyer or create a banner for your website? This class will cover the very basics of Photoshop to beginners looking to get familiar with the program and learn some neat tips and tricks that will get you started designing in no time.

This will be a small class so that attention can be given to your specific goals. It is aimed at people who have never used Photoshop before, or who have very minimal knowledge of how the program works and would like a more thorough introduction. You will learn basic Photoshop skills and how different tools function, but this class will also give time for you to ask questions regarding specific tools to complete your personal projects.

Some skills you will gain include:

// Basic retouching, resizing, and cloning of images (removing imperfections, correcting colors, etc.)
// What your 'History' is and how it can save your project
// How layers, adjustment layers and masks work
// Saving your work, file types, the difference between RGB and CMYK, and what dpi means
// Effects, how to interact objects with backgrounds, how to apply gradients

What to Bring

Please bring a laptop, and have a trial of Photoshop (preferably CC, but CS5 or CS6 are fine as well) downloaded already before you arrive (trials last 30 days), and most likely you'll want a paper and pen to take notes.

Minimum age

All ages welcome

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST

Hello there! My name is Maria Diodati and I'm a 23 year old graphic designer, originally from Atlanta, GA. I taught myself Photoshop back in high school, and from then on, knew that design was my passion. I attended school in Michigan and have a BA in Art concentrating in Graphic Design, and studied as a transient student at Savannah College of Art & Design. I've been using Photoshop, Indesign and Illustrator for over 5 years now, and have taught several friends and family members the basic skills to help them complete their projects. I've worked in both print and production design, and web and social media design. I would love to share my knowledge with you, as the Adobe programs are great tools to have and to use to further your personal projects, or businesses!
