Casting Concrete Vessels
TOP RATED
Arts & DIY
This workshop teaches participants how to build molds and cast concrete vessels. You will learn how to create your own, unique shapes using found and re-purposed materials. All equipment and supplies will be provided. Students are also encouraged to bring their own found objects to incorporate. Some examples are: plastic packaging (yogurt containers, takeout boxes etc.) trinkets, jars, bottles…or anything that inspires you!
Some things to think about. 1)Keep in mind that your mold-making items will get grease and concrete on them, and could possibly get ruined in the process. Please bring expendable pieces, not your family heirlooms. 2) Consider how to apply texture to surfaces–one of our favorites is bubble wrap, but anything with ridges will have a similar effect. Broken CD’s can be used as tiles. Get creative and don’t be afraid to try something!

One of my favorite classes so far! The vessels that we made are absolutely stunning. The process was super cool and I will try this on my own. I was given everything I need to continue the learning process of hypertufa! Great class, highly recommend it!

The class was a lot of fun - the perfect combination of information on how-to and actually doing. From making the mold to mixing the concrete, it was a great creative session! And feel confident that I could do it on my own.
