Event Overview

Ever loved the way an outfit looked on a hanger and imagined how stunning it would look on you? With anticipation you try it on with your back to the mirror for added suspense. You're thinking, "This might just be the outfit that changes my life!" With hope and a prayer, you turn and face the mirror, and....wait for it.....are astonished at how miraculously this gorgeous, form-fitting outfit you swore would fit you like a glove, has morphed into a potato sack with a belt. At this point, even the potato sack eeks out a sigh of disappointment. Well, there's good news --you most likely picked the wrong style of clothing for your body shape. There are specific styles to avoid based on body shape and in this class, Dabblers will learn what those are, and more.

Dabblers who "are frustrated with shopping because nothing ever looks right on me" will learn what their body shaps are, how to recognize the different types of body shapes, and the do's and don'ts of selecting clothing based on those types, so their selections are enhancing and slimming.

Handouts and clothing items for each body type will be on display. Students will have an opportunity to identify classmates' body types so they are equipped when selecting clothing for family members or friends.

Let's make your shopping experience a fun and successful one! No more potato sacks!

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST

As a lover of fashion and a former public relations professional for 15+ years, dressing the part was essential for success in my line of work. Early on in my career at a time when my weight was fluctuating, I had trouble finding clothes to fit my body. Knowing other women experienced similar frustrations finding well-suited clothing, whether having a weight issue, or not, I delved into studying body types, color analysis for skin color and accessorizing to maximize and enhance my best features and to help other women in the same situation. Interning for a personal shopper at a large retail outlet further honed my skills.

Since retiring from my public relations career, I have focused my energy on jewelry design, personal shopping and color analysis. My "What Not to Wear" styling tips are shared at quarterly "Clothing Swap" parties which I host to assist clients in selecting appropriate clothing for their body types.

With a B.A. in Communication and Psychology from Regis University, I know the importance of feeling good about yourself and am excited to share my knowledge.
