Event Overview

In this 8 hour gemstone class, instructor Whit will teach this specific earring style which will allow students to build their skills learning several new techniques, which can also be used to make mixed metal pendants and other jewelry later on.

Students will choose their earring shape, and may use any copper textured (roll printed, hand textured, pre rolled or etched) to sweat solder onto the silver shape. The sweat soldering is done in such a way as to not bleed onto the silver bottom. Students will make their own head pins, and ear wires for their earrings. They will also use a flex shaft bit to hand texture the silver outside of where the copper is soldered on. Students will patina this edge black to make the copper “POP”.

Students will add pearls or beads of their choice (brought from home) after proper clean up, patina and polishing is completed.

Students will be able to go home and create other similar earring designs using other metals in the same way as this earring is built.
