Event Overview
Do you find food prep to be a chore? All that cutting and chopping? It doesn't have to be! By learning these 7 habits you will stop struggling in the kitchen and start enjoying food prep. AND you'll learn to DICE AN ONION WITHOUT CRYING.
Students will receive a hand out on all 7 habits along with discussion. To get hands-on practice, we'll be making salsa to take home. We will dice onions without crying (habit #3), mince garlic like a pro (habit #5), and use tomatoes to gauge how sharp your knife is (habit #1).
You'll get to try out a variety of knives as we work so you can get a feel for western, asian, ceramic, cheap and expensive knives. I'll explain how to care for your knives, prolong their life, choose a knife you love and the dangers of a dull knife. We'll also talk about the professional culinary practice of "mise en place" or "everything in its place".
This class is for anyone who wants to improve their knife skills and up their game on essential skills in the kitchen.

MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST
I want to share what *really* matters in the kitchen with anyone who wants to be a happier cook. My kitchen credentials are at the obsessive hobbyist level. I have co-taught classes at the Western Reserve School of Cooking and worked retail at Sur La Table for several years. But I'm also a software designer and I've applied my professional brain to the workflow process in the kitchen. I've identified the common pain points that occur during cooking and highlighted process improvements to remove friction from the kitchen.
